All You would like to know about Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient needed for tissue growth and cell renewal in all parts of the body, including the skin, but we cannot produce it ourselves.

The powerful antioxidant is found naturally in fruits and vegetables and is usually produced synthetically in skin care products such as moisturizers, tonics and most often in intense serums.

The first form of vitamin C - L-ascorbic acid. This is the most biologically active and best-studied form of vitamin C, but there are also several derivatives of vitamin C, such as sodium ascorbyl phosphate, ascorbyl palmitate, retinyl ascorbate, threxyldecyl ascorbate, and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate. These derivatives are not exactly pure vitamin C, but rather are combined with other ingredients that could help keep vitamin C stable. So when these derivatives come in contact with the skin, they release pure vitamin C on the skin. For example, if a product contains 10 percent of these derivatives, they can release only 3 percent of pure vitamin C on the skin. The variants differ mainly in their hydrophilicity (ability to dissolve easily in water) and pH.

Benefits of vitamin C for the skin:

- Vitamin C is an impressive ingredient in skin care:

- Protects against environmental stressors: One of the main functions of vitamin C as an antioxidant is to protect the skin. Normal cellular processes, as well as environmental insults such as ultraviolet light and pollution, create free radicals in the skin. Free radicals are essentially unstable molecules that damage cells, contributing to skin dullness, wrinkles and even cancer.

- Vitamin C protects the skin, keeping it healthy and improving the visible signs of aging.

- Promotes collagen production: Vitamin C also plays an important role in collagen synthesis. Collagen gives our skin support and structure, and as we age, we begin to notice wrinkles and lines.

Vitamin C is a necessary factor for the formation of collagen, without which this process stops. - Highlights brown spots: Vitamin C is also useful for highlighting unwanted brown spots by blocking the pigment synthesis pathway.
